Models and maps. They make navigating the complexity around us easier, guiding us when things are confusing. Like initial piece of advice from someone more experienced they can be a lifesaver, especially when you enter new territory or situation you never been to. Visiting new city, starting work at new organisation, moving to foreign country. Or becoming parent for the first time. They give us a helping hand when we're trying to decide what to do. We all use them, don't we?

But there's a catch - they are not perfect. No matter how good they are, they can't capture every detail about life. Life changes quickly - our models and maps can't keep up. That doesn't mean that they're useless, though. We just have to be careful and remember their limitations.

It's easy to get lost in the map and forget it's just a signpost, not the real deal. If we rely too much on them, we might miss important changes happening right in front of us. This can and will lead to bad decisions. Map isn't always up-to-date with life's twists and turns.

Maps and models are still a great help though. They're tools that give us an idea of what to expect, what's coming next. But we need to look beyond them to really expand our understanding. Maybe the real treasure lies beyond the edges of the map.

The map is not the territory. It's a simpler version of it. It shows us a part of the real world, not the whole of it. All maps and models are like that, always a bit incomplete. They can't show every little detail. And that's okay, as long as we look beyond them. Don't just stick to the mapped roads, explore the unknown ones too. So the old maps can be updated for others following in your footsteps. There is so much more out there waiting to be found.
